Garage Fire in Black River Falls

-There was a garage fire in Black River Falls this past Friday.The fire occurred in the Township of Manchester in Jackson County and the owners, Mark and Jennifer Hill, were alerted of the fire by the mailman on his route.
By the time the fire department arrived, the unattached garage was fully engulfed in flames. The fire department then started a defensive attack to save the nearby home.
The cause of the fire appears to be a burn barrel near the garage. The owners put some paper in the barrel, but didn?t ignite it. The fire department believes the paper may have started on fire due to some stray embers left in the barrel after the family burned garbage earlier that week.
The fire department believes the wind on that day blew embers from the burning paper onto the garage.
The garage is a total loss and there was some damage to the siding on the owners home. The Red Cross was called to assist the owners since power had to be cut by the power company.
