Neillsville City Council Discusses Comprehensive Plan Update and Heritage Days at Recent Meeting

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 -- 8:29 AM

-The Neillsville City Council made further progress regarding the update of the City of Neillsville Comprehensive Plan.

The resolution regarding the public participation procedures for the Comprehensive Plan were updated. The Comprehensive Plan is updated every 10 years by the city which allows it to apply for grants, loans, and other items. It gives a detailed look at the city and is often used when applying for state loans.

Normally, during the update of a plan, a Public Informational Meeting is usually held in order for citizens to offer feedback, but there doesn?t have to be one. The Planning Commission decided, during an October meeting, that there should be one. The City Council then approved the resolution to have the public meeting for the Comprehensive Plan update.

The timetable regarding the plan would include two more regular meetings, one in February and another in April, followed by the final draft in May, with the public hearing in June or July, and a final adoption in July or August.
The City Council also went over the items discussed at a recent Heritage Days Committee Meeting.

The committee discussed the bands and entertainment for the event and they also approved the ordering of 100 pottery refrigerator jars.

Other items regarding entertainment and events were discussed and the next meeting was set for later this month.
