Cell Phones, Energy, and More Discussed at Loyal School Board Meeting

Friday, November 16th, 2012 -- 8:27 AM

-The Loyal School Board approved several items at their meeting on Wednesday.

The board approved the third and final reading of their new cell phone policy. Under this new policy, students can now use their cell phones before and after school and during their lunch break.

The third and final reading of the Unpaid Leave Policy was approved and the board tabled a CESA 10 Energy proposal until they can get more information. Under this proposal, a CESA 10 agent would use different measures to save the district energy. If the measures didn?t work, the district would owe them nothing. If it did work, the district and CESA 10 would go 50/50 on the savings to pay for the service.

The board also approved a non-union Administrative Staff Salary increase and they informed three of their board members that they will be up for re-election in the spring, so they need to get the paperwork in if they want to seek re-election.

The board also discussed the State School Board Convention, just seeing who wanted to go. They also approved a change to the wording regarding personnel days for teachers in the handbooks as staff thought the wording was too strict.

Finally, a raise for the elementary secretary was approved as well as a Salvation Army member coming to ring the bell before a game on the 20th of December. They also discussed sending someone to the Clark County Education Forum happening in Greenwood in February.
