Owen Woman Appears in Chippewa County Court

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 -- 5:37 PM

-An Owen woman made an initial appearance in Chippewa County Court on Tuesday.

Cathleen Shook, age 57, tried to deliver a large amount of prescription drugs to her son, Robert Bounds Jr., age 40, while visiting him at the Stanley Prison at the beginning of October.

Shook was arrested and has two felony charges of delivering illegal articles to an inmate and manufacture or deliver of prescription drugs filed against her. She also has two misdemeanor charges of violating state/county institution laws and possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs filed against her.

Shook appeared in court with defense attorney John Manydeeds and appearing for the state was Roy La Barton Gay. Manydeeds waived the time limit for a preliminary hearing on his clients behalf.

Shook's bond of 2500 dollars was continued. Terms of her bond include no contact with the Stanley Prison, she cannot possess or consume any controlled substance not prescribed by authorized medical personnel, and she cannot possess or consume any illegal drugs.

Judge James Issacson set a future court date for February.
