Major Changes to Greenwood Dairy Days

Monday, November 12th, 2012 -- 8:28 AM

-The City of Greenwood is making some major changes to its Dairy Days Festival.

For the past couple months, the Greenwood City Council, along with Mayor Jim Schecklman, have been discussing making changes to Greenwood?s Dairy Days.

The festival has seen a decline in attendance over the years, and attendance at the festival this last summer was especially low due to the lack of rides.

The new festival may be held in late June or early July and will go by a completely different name.

Also, most of the Dairy Days Committee members will not help with the new event as they felt offended by meetings that, they said, were ?held in secret.? Mayor Schecklman informed them that the recent public hearing held about Dairy Days was not meant to be in secret, but felt those present would open up more without committee members there.

At the public meeting, everyone did agree that changes need to made, but staples such as the Miss Greenwood, Little Miss Greenwood, and Sunday parade would be there to stay.
