No Zeppelin Tour
from melodicrock.com
ROBERT PLANT SAYS NO TO LED ZEPPELIN WORLD TOUR AND 100M:
I'm sure many have seen this, but for the record - www.sundaymirror.co.uk Disappointing news, as I have been hearing that a tour was planned for after Plant wrapped up his tour with Krauss. Still time for this to change....
Plant says No to a world tour.. and 100M Pnds/ By Sean Hamilton Showbiz Editor Robert Plant has turned down an extra 100 million fortune to take Led Zeppelin on a world tour. The rock legend wants to concentrate on his new partnership with US country singer Alison Krauss... spelling the likely end of the famous band. Led Zep fans had been longing for a tour announcement since last year - when the 1970s superstars reformed for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena. Surviving members Plant, Robert Page and John Paul Jones were offered a guaranteed 100m each for a tour of North America and Europe after a million fans applied for O2 tickets. But after extensive talks Led Zep - best known for the song Stairway To Heaven - decided against the moneymaking opportunity. Guitarist Jimmy Page, 64, was keen to do the tour this year and was backed by bass player John Paul, 62. But singer Plant, 59 - already worth an estimated 70 million - wants to concentrate on his new success with US country singer Krauss. The pair's duet album Raising Sand went to No 2 in America and Britain and they are starting their own tour in April. A band source said: "Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt. "Jimmy had enjoyed the concert in December enough to want to tour. He argued they still had something to offer. He likes the idea of another chapter in the band - the grown-up tour." John sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the others again. "But Robert wanted to leave last year's concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough. He has other commitments and is happier looking forward to those. Robert put the mockers on the tour."

Van Halen Tour Back On...
Wow...it's hard to keep up with this insanity!
from TMZ.com
Van Halen Tour Is On Like Donkey Kong!
Posted Mar 3rd 2008 5:42PM Van Halen's current tour, much like most of their members, has been brought back from the dead As we first reported, the group canceled remaining tour dates and hotel reservations through April 19. Live Nation, the company behind the tour, says that Eddie Van Halen is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures. They say these dates are rescheduled starting April 24.
Eddie checked into rehab last year for alcohol-related issues.

Van Halen Tour Cancelled
from TMZ.com
Van Halen Tour Unhinged
Sources tell TMZ the Van Halen tour has just been canceled!
We're told arrangements are being made right now to cancel hotel stays for the tour -- which was scheduled to continue through April 19th. Sources tell us the reason for the cancellation is Eddie -- that he is having "issues."
The last three shows had already been canceled. There have been reports that Eddie was out of it during concerts -- and video of recent performances in which his guitar playing was atrocious.

Jeff Healey Dies
from melodicrock.com
CANADIAN BLUES GUITARIST JEFF HEALEY DIES AT 41:
This is really sad. Jeff was not only an amazing guitar player, but an inspirational human being. I will treasure my one occasion of seeing him perform live in Toronto 2003. R.I.P. Jeff. ArticleLink: www.ctv.ca "Legendary blues and jazz guitarist Jeff Healey has died, his publicist said Sunday. The Canadian rock musician had battled cancer his entire life. "It was something he fought with considerable bravery," his publicist, Richard Flohil, told CTV Newsnet. Healey, 41, had also lost his eyesight to a rare form of the disease, Retinoblastoma, when he was only one year old. The musician had performed with such acclaimed guitar players as B. B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and George Harrison. His full name was Norman Jeffrey Healey and he passed away Sunday in the city of his birth, Toronto, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Healey first began playing guitar at the age of three and formed his first band while still a teenager, according to his website. He played with a very distinctive style, with laying his guitar flat across his lap. One of his best-known songs, "Angel Eyes," came from the Grammy-nominated album See the Light. His blues band, simply called the Jeff Healey Band, has sold more than 1 million albums in the United States. But along with rock and blues music, Healey was also an accomplished jazz musician. In his final years he had hosted a jazz program on Jazz-FM in Toronto, playing rare tracks from his vast collection of more than 30,000 78-rpm records. Healey leaves behind his wife, Cristie, 13-year-old daughter Rachel and three-year-old son Derek."
