Def Leppard To Record With "Mutt" Lange Again
from blabbermouth.net
DEF LEPPARD To Reunite With MUTT LANGE On New Album - June 21, 2007
According to The Def Leppard Satellite Of Love , DEF LEPPARD will reunite with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after the tour is over to write a few songs for the new album, "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge", it was revealed on the June 20 edition of "Rockline". "He's very enthusiastic actually," bassist Rick Savage told the listeners of "Rockline". "He's just heard a few ideas that we had knocking around and he really wants to do a couple things with us, which is great after all this time that we've known him for him to still dig what we're doing and there still that chemistry there for future songs." The collaboration would be the first between the band and Mutt Lange since 1999's "Euphoria" album. According to Billboard.com, DEF LEPPARD is "about 85, 90 percent finished" with its next CD, which frontman Joe Elliott describes as "a very rock album." "I'm not gonna say it's radically different to anything we've ever done," Elliott told Billboard.com. "There's classic DEF LEPPARD. There's stuff that sounds like it's going back to the middle, late-'70s AC/DC and new wave-type sounding stuff. There's definitely some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!' We've just been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers." Elliott said the "Sparkle Lounge" album title refers to a room the group maintained backstage during its 2006 tour dates, where the musicians would congregate with co-producer and live sound technician Ronan McHugh to work up and record ideas.

Tommy Lee/Motley Crue Sues!
From melodicrock.com
ROCK STAR: SUPERNOVA DIMINISHED INTEREST IN TOMMY LEE SUGGESTS LEGAL CLAIM: Industry Gossip site TMZ posted the following article late yesterday: Legendary hard rockers Motley Crue have filed a $20 million lawsuit against one of their managers, claiming "greed," "extortionist tactics" and terrible career advice caused the band to lose millions of dollars in profits and tarnished the band's stellar reputation. In the lawsuit, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the four founding members of the band (Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars & Tommy Lee) through Motley Crue Inc., claim manager Carl Stubner and Sanctuary Management Group gave them bad business advice and attempted to "divert revenue from [the band] and redirect it to themselves. Furthermore, the suit claims, Stubner forced Tommy Lee to "to become engaged in 'reality' projects that were bad career moves for Lee, harming [Sixx, Mars, Neil and Lee], the Motley Crue brand and Lee's own image." The suit calls the low-rated NBC show "Tommy Lee Goes to College" a "critical disappointment and a ratings disaster," adding it painted Lee as "incoherent, lazy and incompetent" and made him "look like a laughing stock who could not carry a drum beat." The suit also claims Lee's participation on "Rock Star: Supernova" "diminished the public's interest in Lee and their overall perception of his musical talents." Because Lee was so busy doing reality TV, the band says he was unavailable to tour with the Crue, thus causing the cancellation of several key concert dates. The band claims that they lost $8 million in ticket and merchandise revenue because of Lee's scheduling conflicts. The band claims these conflicts were "both real and concocted" by Stubner to "leverage his control over Lee to his financial advantage and to Motley Crue and Lee's detriment."

Trouble In Bon Jovi Camp...
from melodicrock.com
RICHIE SAMBORA HEADS TO REHAB: Rumors of a rift in the Bon Jovi camp between frontman Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora have been floating around for a year or so. News to light today will only add fuel to the flames I think. Sounds like the upcoming Unplugged broadcast may not see all of the band at their best. Over to the press articles online today:
1) "Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora entered an undisclosed treatment facility on Wednesday, a rep for the band tells People exclusively. "Richie Sambora has entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles," the rep said in a statement. "He asks that you respect he and his family's privacy at this time." The specific nature of Sambora's problem was not disclosed. It has been a difficult year for Sambora, 47. He and actress Denise Richards broke up several months ago after dating for about a year. In April, his divorce from Heather Locklear was finalized. And that same month, his father died of lung cancer. (Richards accompanied Sambora to the funeral as a show of support, though they had ended their relationship by that point.) "Richie has had a terrible year," a close friend of the musician tells People. "I think this was a culmination of all these things and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself. He'd put off everything for so long taking care of everyone else it was just time to stop and deal with his issues." It is not clear how Sambora's treatment will affect his role in Bon Jovi. The band's new album, Lost Highway, is due out June 19. The group is scheduled to play some tour dates this summer, beginning June 24 in London, but it is a relatively light schedule. A much larger tour is being planned for 2008. The band is also set to appear on an upcoming episode of MTV's Unplugged, which was taped in New York on Tuesday. MTV was inspired to created the Unplugged series in part by Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi playing acoustic at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards."
2) From perezhilton.com - "Bon Jovi's MTV Disaster - Bon Jovi was supposed to jump start the return of Unplugged to MTV, but their taping of the show on Tuesday was a complete and utter disaster, multiple sources confirm exclusively to PerezHilton.com. Bon Jovi recorded their Unplugged - which will air cross-platform on MTV, VH1 and CMT - in Brooklyn on Tuesday night for about 400 fans or so and Richie Sambora was blitzed the whole time. "They had a whole bunch of musicians on stage for most of the night to cover his mistakes on the guitar and would turn his mic off so he couldn't be off key," a spywitness tells us. Seems Denise Richards' ex-boyfriend was partying too hard before the show! Towards the end of the show, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie were on stage alone and Jon goes on to tell the story about how they started acoustically at the MTV VMAs once and.... "This is how Unplugged started...." A shocked source reveals, "As Wanted Dead or Alive started, Richie couldn't play along! During the song Jon stops and makes Richie start again and after the second take was finished the show was supposed to be over but Jon had the whole band come on stage to re-record the song a third time so Richie couldn't mess it up! Jon was clearly upset, but kept it together and handled it like a true pro!"
