Velvet Revolver Wife Trashes Hotel...
from blabbermouth.net
VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland's wife Mary has issued a statement regarding the reports that she was arrested on Sunday (March 25) after she allegedly set her husband's $10,000 wardrobe on fire outside their home in Toluca Lake, California. Cops responded to a "female burning clothes" call late Saturday evening (March 24) and booked Mary Weiland for suspicion of felony arson vandalism. The couple's two children were placed in the care of family friends. Mary was booked at a Burbank police station and released on $50,000 bail three hours later. The arrest came less than a day after the Weilands were thrown out of the Graciela Hotel in Burbank after they left a room there in shambles during what was bein described in media reports as a violent argument. The couple allegedly hurled furniture, made "dents and gouges" in the room's walls, and even left bloodstains on some of the linens. Mary Weiland's statement reads as follows: "With regards to this past weekend's events, it's important to my husband and I that the reports regarding domestic violence, as well as our children's safety, contain facts and not speculation. "The weekend's difficulties were brought on by a reaction to an imbalance in medications used to treat my bipolar disorder. Reports that we were fighting at the Graciela Hotel are untrue. Scott was simply trying to help calm me down. I want to make it very clear that he did not hurt me in any way. For lack of a better expression, I was unstable and just 'lost it.' "Payment for the damages to the Graciela Hotel has already been made. The gracious staff and management have accepted our apologies and welcome us back in the future. "Most importantly, neither of our children were witness to any of these events and they have been in the care of a family member. Scott and I are very involved in our children's lives on a daily basis and we love them unconditionally. We appreciate all your concerns and how supportive people have been. "After nearly seven years of marriage I am truly grateful to have a loving husband, drug-free for 3-1/2 years now, who is able to care for me during this challenging time. "We ask that you refer to this statement for the facts and depend on no other source." Mary's statement that "neither of our children were witness to any of these events" appears to contradict the version offered by Scott Weiland in a posting on VELVET REVOLVER's web site. Scott wrote about the hotel incident, "My wife locked herself in the adjoining room when that damage was done. I want to make it clear that I called security when I heard the glass being broken from next door. Security was unable to enter until she let them in. I sent my children off to a safe place with my assistant (who witnessed all of the events of the evening, until my wife locked herself in the room), and I left the hotel in order to avoid conflict with my wife." Scott Weiland previously pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges against Mary in December of 2001. He had to pay a fine and was put on probation. The couple had also been estranged over Weiland's drug use a few years back, with Mary Weiland reportedly beginning divorce proceedings before the two reconciled. Weiland recently told Launch that he's successfully stayed clean for the last several years. "Last few years have been great. I mean, I don't really feel the necessity to, or the responsibility to — you know, it's been over three and a half years for me, so, I mean, that's all that I feel like I really need to say," he said. VELVET REVOLVER's new album, "Libertad", is tentatively scheduled for release on June 5, with a U.S. tour scheduled to begin on May 4 in Hollywood.

The End Of CBS's "Rock Star"
from melodicrock.com
ROCK STAR TV SHOW AXED: It is official - Rock Star, the TV show that put Inxs back on the road in 2005 and then (unfortunately) unleashed Supernova upon the world in its second season during 2006 has been cancelled. CBS Television has decided to pull the plug on the show, choosing at this stage not to opt for a third season. My criticisms of the second season will no doubt be familiar to regulars - they really did mess things up. In fact, now I'm even more resentful towards the show's producers, as they screwed up this chance to have good rock n roll on prime time TV. The show had so much potential, but aside from 4 or 5 decent singers, the monkeys that they called talent last season was laughable. Then there was Supernova themselves... I have heard there is a bit of a movement to get the show back on air from fans. If you are interested in voicing your enthusiasm for a return of Rock Star, you can write to: Ghen Maynard, Executive Vice President, CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group, 7800 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles , CA 90036, USA.

Brad Delp's Death A Suicide
From bostonherald.com
Suicide confirmed in Delp's death By Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa Thursday, March 15, 2007 - Updated: 01:29 AM EST
Brad Delp lit two charcoal grills in the bathroom adjacent to his master bedroom and committed suicide via asphyxiation last week, according to New Hampshire police who yesterday confirmed that the lead singer of the band Boston took his own life. "He was a man who gave all he had to give to everyone around him, whether family, friends, fans or strangers," the singer's family said in a statement. "He gave as long as he could, as best he could, and he was very tired. We take comfort in knowing that he is now, at last, at peace." Delp, 55, a Danvers native, left two sealed suicide notes taped to a door and letters to his family and his fiancee, Pamela Sullivan. But Atkinson, N.H., Police Lt. William Baldwin said the cops were not told why he took his life. Toxicology tests by the state medical examiner's office showed that Delp died of carbon monoxide poisoning. "It's very sad for all of us who loved this guy," said ex-Extreme drummer Paul Geary, a close friend of Delp and his family. "Whenever I called him for anything he’d drop everything and help, and whenever he called me it was for someone else." Friends said it was Delp's constant need to help and please people that may have driven him to despair. He was literally the man in the middle of the bitter break-up of Boston - pulled from both sides by divided loyalties. Delp remained on good terms with both Tom Scholz, the MIT grad who founded the band, and Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan and Sib Hashian, former members of Boston who had a fierce falling out with Scholz in the early '80s. Delp tried to please both sides by continuing to contribute his vocals to Scholz' Boston projects while also remaining close to his former bandmates. The situation was complicated by the fact that Delp's ex-wife, Micki, is the sister of Goudreau's wife, Connie. "Tom made him do the Boston stuff and the other guys were mad that they weren't a part of it," said another insider. "He was always under a lot of pressure." As you may know, in 1976 the band's first album, featuring Scholz, Delp, Goudreau, Hashian and Sheehan, was the best-selling debut album in history, spawning rock staples "More Than a Feeling," "Peace of Mind," "Foreplay/ Long Time" and "Rock and Roll Band." But shortly thereafter things deteriorated. Scholz' penchant for perfection and his well-chronicled control issues led to long delays between albums. As a result, Goudreau, Delp and Hashian released an album without him, which led to an irretrievable breakdown. Scholz claimed that the other band members - with the exception of Delp - attempted to steal the name Boston. While the bitter battle raged, Delp tried to keep peace with both sides. He continued to perform with Scholz and the reconstituted Boston but also did projects with Goudreau and remained friends with the other original members. But the never-ending bitterness may have been too much for the sensitive singer to endure. Just last fall the ugliness flared again when Scholz heard some of his ex-bandmates were planning to perform at a tribute concert at Symphony Hall for football legend Doug Flutie - and then had his people call and substitute himself and Delp for the gig, sources say. In fact, the wounds remained so raw that Scholz wasn't invited to the private funeral service for Delp that the family held earlier this week. "What does that tell you?" asked another insider. "Brad and Tom were the best of friends and he's been told nothing about anything." In an interview with Rolling Stone after Delp's death, Scholz said he and Delp were "friends and collaborators for 35 years but our bond ran much deeper than just Boston." But Scholz also made reference to the ongoing feud in the interview when he told the rock bible that "unlike other individuals eventually involved with Boston, Brad’s down-to-earth personality never wavered." Police discovered Delp's body in his southern New Hampshire home at around 1:30 p.m. last Friday. Sullivan had gone to the house after failing to reach her fiance by phone. Police said Delp was alone at the time of his death. Some friends expressed surprise at the timing of Delp's suicide. He had been planning to tour with Boston and to marry Sullivan this coming summer. He was also content working with his first love - a Beatles tribute band called Beatlejuice. But friends say there was a dark side. "He was a sad character to begin with," said one close pal. "He didn't think highly of himself. He was always very self-deprecating. He's always been that way, though, so there was really nothing to lead anyone to believe that he would do this." Delp leaves two children, Jennifer, 26, and John Michael, 22.

Bostons' Brad Delp Passes...
BRAD DELP - R.I.P:
Very very distressing and sad news to pass on - news just coming in is reporting that legendary Boston singer Brad Delp has been found dead at his home.
Here is the first report from Associated Press newsagency - ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for Boston, a huge rock sensation in the 1970s, was found dead Friday in his home, police said. He was 55. Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play. Delp apparently was alone at the time of his death, Baldwin said. The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday. Delp fronted the rock band, who rose to fame in the late 1970s and had several hits, including "More than A Feeling." The group sold millions of records.

E.V.H. In Rehab!!! Explains A Lot...
from melodicrock.com
BREAKING VAN HALEN UPDATES:
It is a morning of breaking Van Halen news! This letter from Edward Van Halen has been sent out this afternoon LA time to a number of media outlets, including myself. It reads:
"I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.
I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.
Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I'm doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.
I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.
Love, Ed."
Let me stand up and say - well done Edward Van Halen. Thank you for having the personal fortitude and courage to face your issues head on, accept the fact that you need help and deal with everything that goes with making such an admission. I dare say that the entire Van Halen fan base is behind you in your desire to get clean and healthy and I cannot say strongly enough - we all wish you the very best and look forward to what will now without doubt, be a brighter future.
If you have been following the recent Van Halen updates here and especially the news of the 2007 tour being postponed, you might have already read between the lines as far as the turmoil within the Van Halen camp. No, there hasn't been any sparring between David Lee Roth and any of the members and no, there were no issues about Wolfgang Van Halen filling the bassist position. The main issues revolved around Eddie's health and the reluctance of people involved in putting on and promoting the 2007 to commit to it without Edward first seeing help. It is fantastic to see Eddie comment on that. It reached a point where nothing had happened and the tour was pulled. But, Ed has found the strength needed to deal with this and has checked himself into rehab. Not only is this the best possible option for Ed on a personal level, but it also gives renewed hope that those behind the tour will now have the confidence to get the ball rolling again. Obviously Eddie needs time to deal with this and no one will be rushing him back onto the tour circuit. Time frames and schedules are not something that will be looked at for a while yet, but safe to say that the tour with David Lee Roth looks more likely to happen today, than it did yesterday.
At the same time as this has been going down - David Lee Roth has spat the dummy with Hall Of Fame officials and has pulled the plug on appearing at the ceremony! LA Times writer Geoff Boucher states in an article today that Michael Anthony will be the only original member of the band to appear at the ceremony, appearing along with second vocalist and friend Sammy Hagar.

Van Halen Rock And Roll HOF Ceremony
from melodicrock.com
HALF OF VAN HALEN CONFIRMED TO SHOW UP AT HALL OF FAME:
The PR disaster that is Van Halen 2007 continues. It was widely reported overnight that Velvet Revolver would perform at the Hall Of Fame induction in Van Halen's honour. Launch Radio Network reported the following: "Velvet Revolver has been tapped for Van Halen's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band will perform in Van Halen's place, and singer Scott Weiland and guitarist Slash will speak on Van Halen's behalf. For now, it doesn't look like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar will join Velvet Revolver onstage, and Michael Anthony hasn't commented yet. It's still unknown whether Eddie and Alex Van Halen will attend the ceremony."
Ok, so here's what I have. And once again, this must come with a disclaimer, as everything remotely connected to anything Van Halen has a right to change at a moments notice. First up - no one representing the Van Halen brothers or David Lee Roth is talking. But I can tell you this - at this point in time, Eddie and Alex Van Halen are not going to be at the Hall Of Fame ceremony. No reason for their absence has been offered. I can confirm 100% that Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony will definitely be there. I presume David Lee Roth will be also, as I haven't heard anything to the contrary. I was told one further bit of information - something which seems is still an issue, so watch for an update - but I was told today that Velvet Revolver agreed to play two Van Halen songs at the ceremony, but are yet to 100% confirm their involvement as apparently the guys "didn't want to do it if Van Halen themselves do not show up." So that's where things sit right now - the usual mix of half-confirmations, general unknowns and other God-knows-what's. There is no update on the proposed tour, but safe to say that it is looking further away than ever. What a sad and sorry time for Van Halen fans...so much that could have been this year is looking more and more dismal by the day.
