More on Genesis Tour...
from melodicrock.com
STEVE HACKETT COMMENTS ON GENESIS REUNION:
Original Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett commented about the forthcoming Genesis reunion tour: "First of all I would like to congratulate Tony, Mike and Phil for flying the flag once again. Good luck to them and I really hope they have a very successful tour. I was originally approached to discuss the possibility of a five piece which would have included Peter Gabriel and yours truly but since Peter's schedule precludes this, it makes sense for the other three to celebrate the band in their 'own special way' as it were ...." Steve's new solo record is titled Wild Orchids.

Guns N' Roses Cancel/More On Genesis Tour
Wednesday, November 08, 2006
from melodicrock.com
GUNS N ROSES UP TO OLD TRICKS:
What happens when you mix an unreliable artist with fan apathy? Guns N Roses on tour, that's what. The band have cancelled one of their shows already, it seems not because of any cobbled together excuse, but really because the venue was less than half sold for the show. This from the Portland Press Herald: "The rock band Guns N' Roses, which helped define an era with songs like "Welcome to the Jungle," canceled its concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center Monday, 2 1/2 hours before the event was scheduled to begin. The unexplained cancellation angered fans, many of whom pinned the decision on Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose, who has a reputation for calling off shows. "I got all dressed up; I went all out for this concert," said 17-year-old Misty McAuliffe of Rockland, standing across the street from the civic center in a tight black outfit and a Guns N' Roses belt buckle. Fans like McAuliffe turned a section of Free Street behind the civic center into ground zero for Rose-bashing Monday night. While fans griped outside, a crew of dozens worked inside the civic center to take apart the stage, which was show-ready - lighting, amplifiers and all - by 5:30 p.m., when Guns N' Roses' promoter told the venue's manager the show was off. Steve Crane, the civic center's general manager, said the band's promoter, AEG Live, did not give a reason for the decision. Crane, who has worked at the venue for 29 years, said he could remember only one or two other times when a show was called off so close to the scheduled starting time."
In related news, rumor has November 21 as the long delayed release date for the band's Chinese Democracy album.
GENESIS ANNOUNCE THEIR 'TURN IT ON AGAIN' TOUR:
Press Release / Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford of the iconic band Genesis unveiled the dates for their first tour in 15 years. Turn It On Again - the tour, will see the band play a series of stadium concerts in Europe in the summer of 2007. Kicking off in the Olympic Stadium, Helsinki on 11 June, the tour will hit twelve different European countries, ending in Rome on 14 July. At a Pan-European press conference staged today at London's exclusive Mayfair hotel and hosted by comedian and lifelong Genesis fan, David Baddiel, the band took questions from international media about their reasons for reforming and thoughts on the tour. European tour promoter, John Giddings, commented: "It is a privilege to work with one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and to see their musical talent together again onstage will be incredible. The live shows are as famous as their music." The "Turn It On Again" tour will be travelling to all the biggest stadiums as it treks across Europe in 2007 through Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, Holland, UK, Monte Carlo and Italy. Tickets will be on sale for UK dates on 24 November and for dates in Germany on 10 November. Other on-sale dates to be announced. Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford will be joined on stage by long time Genesis sidemen, Chester Thompson on drums and Daryl Steurmer on guitar. Two of the world's greatest show technicians, award-winning lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe and acclaimed set designer Mark Fisher are working on plans for the 2007 Genesis tour. To coincide with the Genesis tour, EMI Records will be re-issuing 14 Genesis studio albums in three stages during 2007. All the releases will be SACD/DVD double disc sets featuring newly re-mastered 5.1 surround sound and stereo mixes. The release schedule is as follows: March 2007: A Trick Of The Tail (1976), Wind & Wuthering (1977), …And Then There Were Three…(1978), Duke (1980) Abacab (1981) June/July 2007: Genesis (1983), Invisible Touch (1986), We Can't Dance (1991), Calling All Stations(1997) Late 2007/Early 2008: Trespass (1970), Nursery Cryme (1971), Foxtrot (1972 ), Selling England By The Pound (1973), The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (1974). The "New" V.H. & Genesis News...
From melodicrock.com
WOLFGANG JOINS HIS DAD IN VAN HALEN: A lot of speculation and a lot of new updates are now appearing in relation to the Van Halen alive again in 2007 news started here a couple of weeks back. Late last week celeb gossip site TMZ.com posted news of the band and who would play bass. Today G4TV ran a quote from band publicist Janie Liszewski confirming that news. I called Liszewski for a confirmation of these comments. She happily obliged, stating that yes, Wolfgang Van Halen was the band's new bassist, suggesting that this wasn't news, as it was stated as such on Howard Stern by Eddie Van Halen in September. She also confirmed that the Van Halen trio - Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang were 'busy in the studio, rehearsing and writing'. The rehearsing of course is for the aforementioned 2007 tour that the band's management are currently shopping to prospective promoters. No confirmation as yet of the vocalist for next year's Van Halen tour - but as stated in my original report, David Lee Roth is the singer that is being included in the package offered to concert promoters. I'm told Roth has not yet visited the Van Halen's in the studio.
GENESIS TO ANNOUNCE 2007 TOUR LATER TODAY: Genesis make their anticipated press conference today (overnight local time) and are expected to announce a 2007 tour. This from Billboard.com today: Mega-selling pop trio Genesis is reuniting with Phil Collins for its first tour with him since the summer of 1992. An official announcement will be made Monday (Nov. 7) in London. Genesis hasn't toured since 1998, during which Ray Wilson replaced Collins on lead vocals alongside principal members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. Former frontman Peter Gabriel will not be participating in the reunion with the group he exited in 1975. "Tony, Mike and Phil are rehearsing now," he said in a recent video message on his Web site. "I'm not involved in this round or this year. I haven't ruled out the possibility of doing something in the future, but right now I'm going to focus on my own work." Also apparently not involved is guitarist Steve Hackett, who played with the band in the Gabriel era but left in 1977
