Former Behind-the-Scenes Marathon County Sheriff’s Worker Has Plea Date Set

Thursday, May 9th, 2024 -- 12:01 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A behind-the-scenes worker in the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office charged with a felony count of false imprisonment is scheduled to enter a plea next month.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Michael Evon is accused of making advances towards a female supervisor at another job, then refusing to let her leave the office until she kissed him. Police say he did eventually let her out.

The 45-year-old is also accused of sending her an expletive-filled message after resigning as a loss prevention specialist. Officials add that Evon was also accused of making inappropriate comments to other female employees, some of them teenagers.

Evon worked in the Sheriff’s Department as a communications division technology specialist. He was put on unpaid leave after the charges came to light. Officers also opened an internal investigation into his behavior.

Evon also faces misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and using a computer to send a threatening or obscene message. He is free on a $1,000 signature bond. After a court appearance on Wednesday, a judge set a plea hearing for June 11th.
