Wausau Economic Development Committee Hears Update on Foundry on 3rd Project

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The Wausau Economic Development Committee heard an update on the T Wall Enterprises Development.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Economic Development Manager Randy Fifrick also told the committee that everything is in motion for T Wall Enterprises to meet their June 1st groundbreaking deadline for the Foundry on 3rd project.

T Wall and Wausau Opportunity Zone are scheduled to transfer ownership of the former Mall site later this week, which means that work will begin later this month. Fifrick said that includes the city’s portion, which will involve removing the dirt cap at the site and replacing the contaminated soil beneath. There’s also some infrastructure work that needs to be done.

No ceremonial groundbreaking date has been set but Fifrick said that could come later this month or sometime in June. The June 1st deadline was imposed due to an amendment to the original development agreement made last fall.
