71-Year-Old Man Dies in Taylor County Farm Accident

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A 71-year-old man died after he was trapped beneath a manure spreader in Taylor County on Sunday afternoon.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, officers were called to an area of State Highway 37 where they found Myron F. Brooks of Gilman pinned beneath the equipment. They managed to extract him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say he was on his way to help a neighbor but didn’t show. Tracks in the field indicate that he turned the tractor around for an unknown reason, and may have fallen off after striking a power pole.

The accident remains under investigation but officers believe Brooks may have suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the tractor before it hit the pole.
